The Octopus and the Crystal: A Reflection Point on Wholeness in Form

A Crystal Breaks, a Message Appears

One morning before leaving an Airbnb, I noticed the tip of my citrine crystal pendant had broken off. The pendant held deep sentimental meaning — a shared gift from my brother when we celebrated my 40th birthday with a magical, woo-woo weekend in Joshua Tree.

At first, I felt a momentary pang.
But then came the message:
“It is still whole.”

An aspect of it is elsewhere, doing its work.
The wholeness can never not be.
It only expanded its reach.

A Vision of Octopuses

In that moment of realization, I received a vision of octopuses.

And isn’t that what we are?
Multidimensional beings — like an octopus.
Each tentacle an aspect of self,
Stretching across timelines, identities, experiences,
Yet all tethered to one central awareness.

The octopus is not diminished by the expansion of its tentacles.
It reflects the myriad of embodied expressions of all beings.

I often speak of “reflection points” — metaphors in our daily lives that remind us of who and what we truly are.

Imagine the octopus as a reflection point of all aspects of you expressing,
Yet always connected and grounded through the body.

The Tentacle of Source

Now let’s expand on this idea.

What if each octopus is a tentacle of Source*?
Each being, a sacred extension of the All.
A fractal of wholeness, made visible through form.
Always connected and grounded in its connection to what Is.

Our exploration of the aspects of Self — in form, in feeling, in forgetting —
is not a departure from unity.
It is a reflection point of it.
A reminder.

Nothing and no being is lost.
Everything is connected.
Even when scattered,
we are always whole.

The Wholeness That Holds Us Through Loss

The next layer unfolded as to how this can be supportive in times of grief.

When someone we love passes, or a part of us is no longer with us in the same way,
The ache of absence is real. And yet — even in loss, the wholeness remains.

A limb removed, an identity shed, a person departed —
These are not ends, but transformations and transmutations.
Expressions of Self, of love, of the All — expressing in a new or different way.

Like the crystal’s tip, they continue their journey elsewhere.
Still connected.
Always whole.
Allowing us to shift our experience in a new way.

And what if that ache is a gentle (or not-so-gentle) nudge.
A sign that you have shifted.
Shifted in consciousness, in being, in timelines.

What if these moments were seen in infinite ways or layers?
Each layer a tentacle. Each shift, an expansion.

For when we only see through one perspective,
it can deepen our sense of separation — and with it, despair.

But the soul does not fracture. It expands.
As does our awareness of this truth.

Our capacity to love does not disappear with loss — it deepens.
Presence becomes the bridge. Remembrance becomes the salve.

This is a reminder of our journey in form and otherwise —

We are not broken.
We are not separate.
We are One with All.
