Root Chakra Crystals

Let’s talk about root chakra crystals and stones! Root chakra crystals and stones support the root chakra and its governing forces.  Please note while that I use crystals and stones somewhat interchangeably in this blog post, they are very different in nature.

Root Chakra Overview

First, let’s review what we’ve learned already about the root chakra. The first chakra, aka the root chakra or Muladhara is the foundation of our chakra system. It governs our connection with our physical body and the Earth. It is for these reasons that this chakra is also responsible for allowing us to feel grounded. This chakra also governs our sense of trust, safety, security, stability, finances, health, housing and family. You can learn more about this chakra in this previous blog post

Root Chakra Crystals

The color of the root chakra is red and thus, most red crystals, rocks, minerals and stones can be beneficial in supporting the root chakra. This is magnified when you work with them with the intention of healing the muladhara chakra. We talk more about how to do that later in this post.

Crystals often have listed properties that they help to bring forth and enhance. When looking for stones for the root chakra, look for descriptive keywords such as: grounding, stability, trust, connection to the body, health promoting, security and abundance. To put this another way, when looking at the properties of crystals, you’ll want to connect with a stone that will allow you to feel safe physically, emotionally and spiritually. A stone that can cultivate a sense of trust, safety and security. One that helps to connect with the earth and your physical body. Help facilitate a sense of grounding. Connect to family and ancestors. A stone that can promote health of the body and mind and/or assist in abundance and prosperity.

Please note that the list is only just a sampling of root chakra crystals. There are plenty others out there! With that said, your intuition is your greatest guide. If you are called to a particular stone, please listen to that inner wisdom and use it on your personal journey of healing. You don’t necessarily even need to know the name or properties as long as you feel a deep sense of personal connection to it. There exists a deeper level of connection that sometimes can not be named or explained. Trust in your inner wisdom. If you don’t yet have access, please use the crystals and stones below to begin healing your chakras and overall wellbeing so that you may find the space to access and trust the inner wisdom that is within you.

And lastly, this chakra connects us to the Earth and stones, rocks, minerals and crystals all come from the Earth. So friends, you really can’t go wrong when picking for this chakra. Try to trust your intuition (sixth chakra) and let your inner wisdom (seventh chakra) to guide you.

How to work with root chakra crystals

Remember this friends….

Where your awareness goes, energy flows.

Thus, just by simply holding a crystal or stone with your awareness at the base of your spine and pelvic floor (the home of the root chakra) you can direct the healing properties of the crystals to your root chakra. You can also do this after or while rubbing the crystal into the palm of your hands (hold for approx 30 seconds).

You can listen to this root chakra affirmations meditation while you connect with the stone.

While there are many ways you can work with crystals, this is one of the most accessible for most. Understanding and integrating the chakras into your journey can be hard! So, I believe in keeping what you can simple as you learn and integrate.
