In my last post, we explored the throat chakra and crystals to support it. Today, we will dive into throat chakra affirmations to deepen your chakra work.
We learned that the throat chakra governs communication, self-expression and creativity. In Getting Unstuck, we dive deeper into its governing forces such as finding your voice, speaking your truth, listening and honesty. Be sure to check that course out if you want to learn more. If you want more content now, check out my blog post about communicating your needs via the throat chakra.
Creativity and the Chakras

I wanted to dive a little deeper into creativity being in the throat chakra vs the second chakra before we dive into throat chakra affirmations.
Across all of my chakra content, I emphasize how this work is first about learning the material and then beginning to embody it as you decide what your personal truth(s) are. Some aspects might resonate and some might not!
We are all very different beings and this also speaks to why there are varying beliefs around how many main chakras there are, the colors, the spelling of their names, the governing forces, etc.
This work is all about finding meaning and understanding that will serve you on your journey. Remember that could also change as you change, so keeping a flexible mind is of utmost importance. So let me take you inside my thought process around creativity and the chakras.
As someone that enjoys creativity that utilizes the written or spoken word, the throat chakra resonates with me. Now, if I had continued with dance as a kiddo, perhaps the second chakra would have resonated more. This is because it is more closely connected to the root chakra which connects us to our bodies and as the second chakra is all about fluidity and movement with its element being water.
So if your creative outlet involves movement and the body, the second chakra might resonate more. If you’re a belly dancer, the second chakra might really resonate as it’s related to the hips in the body!
Second Chakra & Creativity

So why is the second chakra related to creativity in some lineages. One reason is that it is connected to our reproductive organs, which create life. Another reason people connect creativity to the second chakra is due to Brahma Granthi. Now this is probably a foreign phrase for many of you. While I won’t go too in depth with this, I do want to explain it briefly.
The granthies are energetic knots that prevent Shakti from reuniting with Shiva. (I explain this reunion in both of my courses). There are three granthies. Brahma resides at the root and is connected to the first three chakras. Vishnu granthi is rooted at the heart chakra and is connected to the 3rd, 4th and 5th chakra and lastly, Rudra granthi is connected to Ajna chakra and is connected to the 5th, 6th and 7th chakra.
Brahma granthi, is all about creation and while it is technically located in the root chakra it does connect to the lower three chakras. The second chakra is all about movement and fluidity and change, which are key components in creativity. So this is another reason why many place creativity in the second chakra.
I invite you to take all of this in, digest it and begin to see for yourself where your creativity flows from. Also knowing, it could be another chakra or chakras. I often connect my creativity with my sixth as I am very visual and the root as it grounds my visions and allows me to bring them into the material world. If you want to learn more about the integration of the chakras with creativity, check out my last post where I explain this more.
Throat Chakra & Creativity

So you might be thinking, okay well second chakra makes a lot of sense, why are you talking about it with the throat chakra. Great question!
Creativity and self-expression go hand in hand. Creativity is also a means of communicating your truths and beliefs. Many people don’t have the words to communicate what they are thinking or feeling, but they can express it through creative outlets. This is one premise of art therapy.
In the body, the throat chakra is connected to the shoulder girdle, arms and hands. Whether one is building a home or painting a masterpiece, the arms and hands allow one to express their creative visions to the world.
It also connects to the throat and neck, which allows singers, poets, and speakers to communicate their creative visions to the world.
Please also remember, this is how I see and interpret this information for myself. After taking my courses or learning more on your own, it might translate in a completely different way for you.
And if you’re in a space where you’re thinking, Blair, I have no clue! They both make sense. You’re not alone! I still oscillate back and forth at times and quite frankly, that’s okay. The chakras are not static entities. They are energy and thus are constantly flowing and exchanging energy. A huge part of this work is flexibility of mind and remembering this can help soften the need to “get it right”.
Okay friends, let’s dive into the throat chakra affirmations!

I am a creative force.
I am an effective communicator.
My creativity flows with ease.
I deserve a seat at the table.

How to work with affirmations
Let’s explore some ways to work with affirmations.
If you are actively using crystals from my last post, integrating 1 or more of these affirmations into your practice can deepen the work that you’re already doing. You can use an affirmation as your initial intention and/or you can repeat 1 or more mentally or audibly as you practice.
To make your life more easeful, I have a youtube video in the works that turns the above affirmations into a meditative practice. It also utilizes the throat chakra tuned crystal singing bowl. More isn’t always better, but having multiple layers of support for your throat chakra can be quite powerful! You can also listen to it on insight timer!
You can also pick one and write it down on a post-it and place it somewhere you’ll see it often. Some examples my clients like to use are a mirror, the fridge, desk, and/or computer. Ideally, pick a place you’ll see it frequently.
If you prefer to use technology, you can:
- set reminders on your phone with the affirmation
- create a cool image with it and use it as your phone wallpaper or lock screen
- use affirmational apps
Alternatives
These throat chakra affirmations might not speak to you and if so, I invite you to create your own affirmations based on your current needs!
And if you find that affirmations aren’t your jam, keep reading this blog as I do bring in other ways of working with the chakras. Feel free to sign up for my newsletter below to be notified when new posts go live!
