“Following the nudge” is a phrase you might be hearing more of these days. As I use it often in my work, it dawned on me that people might not know what that actually means or how to put it into practice. So, I’m going to share a real life experience of following nudges. We’ll also explore how it can be helpful in learning how to trust your intuition.
If it resonates, you can begin to do the same…in your own way of course.
How to Trust Your Intuition
I’ve been wanting to do weekly readings as part of my alignment membership for a while now, but haven’t felt the “green light” to move forward with it…until today.
For context, I’ve been sharing weekly and monthly readings on Youtube, which if you’re curious you can explore here. The readings are done through symbols that came through me on Oct 11, 2025.

There is so much to say about these symbols, but for the purposes of this piece, please know that they are meant to help you in learning how to attune to and trust your own intuition. To help shift out of a paradigm of going outside of yourself for answers and learning to drop inward to receive the guidance that has been and always will be there for you.
After months of sitting with this idea, I finally felt the nudge or call to move forward. The moment I started to follow through, I received confirmation from the world around me. At least, that’s how I chose to perceive it.
Exploring the Should
If you’ve ever felt an internal pressure to do something because you “should”, this experience will hopefully bring in a new perspective.
Because what if the intuitive nudge to wait is an opportunity to heal and grow. To trust in that inner red light, rather than judge yourself.
Yes, through another lens one might see it as coming from a place of fear.
And….
The fear in and of itself is an opportunity to tune in. To see it, honor it and perhaps release even just a layer of it to support you on your healing journey.
Let me walk you through how I used this red light nudge to explore my hesitation with curiosity and compassion.
Trusting The Nudge to Wait
I have been sitting with this idea because I felt the nudge to wait, partly because I wasn’t clear on the motivations.
- Was it to get more people to sign up for my membership and rooted in money and security, through a lens of fear and lack?
- Was it an excuse to keep me accountable in working with the symbols on a more consistent basis?
- Is it because I feel so deeply connected to these symbols and want to share this offering?
- Do I not fully trust myself to offer these readings?
- Do people even care? Is all this just more noise?
- What if its successful and I get “stuck” doing something that I don’t want to do in the future?
- Is it becasue it brings me great joy when I do these readings?
I realized that they all can co-exist.
Each provides a level of insight into different aspects of self.
For me, pausing felt purposeful. To give it space to breathe rather than judge myself for it. As a therapist of mine used to say, it was allowing them all to come to the table.
If this resonates, I invite you to explore this approach the next time you feel an internal conflict with feeling like you “should” do something.
Creating the space for curiosity can help shift you out of judgment, while deepening your sense of trust.
Honoring the nudge to pause helps develop trust in how and when something unfolds. It allows you to not feel pressure to hit your 5 year plan goals or feel like a failure if you don’t.
You trust in the timing of how life unfolds.
Through this, you also begin to stop trying to control everything in your life and start to surrender because you trust. In my experience, this is where the magic really begins to sparkle!
Following Nudges
We’ve just explored following the nudge to pause. Let’s explore what it looks like in action.
Let me walk you through my experience, which is only one way to do it. Your way might look very different!
This experience actually started yesterday when I followed two seemingly random nudges that unfolded in some pretty magical ways.
So the very next morning, when I felt a strong nudge to do my first weekly reading, I listened.
For me, it felt like an inner green light to move forward. I felt excited and motivated and it now felt aligned. There was zero hesitation, which to be clear isn’t always the case with nudges for me. Sometimes I go back and forth before honoring it. Sometimes I don’t. I feel its part of the process of attunement and trust. Your experience might be very different.
So with this green light, I got my mic set up, dropped in and pulled the symbols. I was going to record in the same way I have been for youtube, when Pepper started to wander off.
Trusting the Detours
In the past, I would get annoyed when this would happen, but I’ve since learned to trust when he does this.
And today was no exception. We’ll learn why in just a moment!
We went for a walk and when we got back, the moment to record had passed and I continued to water my native shrub seedlings.
As I did, a bird started squawking, loud and consistently. It felt unusual, which for me means…pay attention!!
After I finished and it was still going, I got my phone and used the Merlin app to see what bird it was. I learned it was a raven and found myself standing there, rooted, experiencing the scene unfold.

Having recently had an experience of a fawn crying all day, I thought oh no, it is hurt or in need of support? Can I call the same wildlife rehabilitator from before? Will they get annoyed if I call too much? Am I enabling the savior archetype thinking I know what’s best for them?
I saw myself beginning to spiral, so I tried to take “my stuff” out of the equation and dropped in.
Tuning Into Energy
I tuned into the sound and energy to see if I could understand energetically what was happening. It felt perhaps territorial or protective, but I chalked it up to a logical explanation rather than reading the energy of the sounds.
I say that because animal communication is not yet something I feel very confident in. I’m still very much in the process of learning to trust.
The raven flew away squawking and as the moment passed, I got Pepper inside to make us both breakfast.
As I sat down to eat, I felt the call to go through the e-book for the symbols I pulled earlier: ancestors and presence.
Yes, I wasn’t exactly being present to my meal, but I was present to the nudge.
I share this because in following nudges, you might find yourself in direct conflict with a belief or something you’re working on. For me, I see this as a reminder to not get stuck in rigid beliefs. Like the belief that there is a right way or a wrong way. This flexibility and openness is very important when learning how to trust your intuition.
Inspiration Hits From a Detour
Remember how I said I trusted in Pepper wandering off just as I was about to record?
On our walk, it struck me to do these readings in a different way. To provide various interpretations to reflect back the many ways we can perceive our experiences, to allow it to connect with more people and to show the various ways these symbols can be interpreted.
Pepper’s intentional detour allowed me to discover a more inclusive format that also felt more aligned and fun.
I started tuning in and writing down messages for the week through ancestors and presence, excited to start recording it. If you’re interested, I share the recording at the end of this post.
And with that, Pepper wanted to go back outside.
Interesting…yet another detour. I trusted, pushed off the recording and went outside with him.
Attuning to the Frequency of Synchronicity
I’ve been trying not to search for “meaning” and let it arise naturally, but as I sat down on the patio, I felt the nudge to check on why a raven might behave in the way I experienced.
I could have judged myself for falling back into an old pattern of searching for meaning, but I was riding that nudge train and the energy of this felt different.
In hindsight, it was another opportunity to be flexible and open, despite it being in conflict with something I’m working on.
Google confirmed it may have been territorial and protective. This gave me an experience to trust in my ability to tune into animals, which as I said, is something I’m actively working on. It took precedence over my releasing the pattern of finding meaning. Why? No clue, but I’ll let you know if it arises.
And as I read other reasons, I immediately recalled an intense dream I had the night before. This moment actually made me take pause as it blew my mind a bit.
Hopefully you’re seeing how synchronicities can act like dominos when you start attuning to the frequency.
And here comes yet another domino…
I then saw that it offered spiritual meanings, which reminded me that ravens are symbolic of connecting to the “other side”.
This is the moment I saw the support and confirmation from the world around me.
I had pulled ancestors and presence and then was pulled into a real life experience where that could be embodied.
How? Because I was present to an animal that is symbolic of connecting to ancestors that have crossed over.
It felt like a full circle moment and one of confirmation in choosing to move forward with these weekly readings.
At least, that’s how I chose to receive it.
Trusting the Red Lights
Let’s turn this full circle moment into a spiral, because I have one more detail to this unfolding.
Last night, I felt the call to share what following a nudge looks like. Sound familiar?
As it played out in my head thinking about sharing the nudges from that day, I felt a sense of unease at the idea.
A Red light moment. So, I went to bed and “forgot” about it.
And voila, the next morning I’m given a multi-layered unfolding experience where I take you nudge by nudge and how it unfolds when seen through a particular lens.
Friends, I had no intention of this being a blog post. I started writing this out to share in the weekly recording and I realized, wait….this is exactly what the nudge last night was telling me to do.
But there was no unease with sharing these nudges. In fact, I joyfully spent hours working on it, losing complete track of time!
What Lens Are You Looking Through
And remember, this is all through a particular lens. So if this doesn’t resonate or you saw something completely different in this experience, please notice that!
It means you are seeing through a different lens. Not better or worse, just different.
The more we can see one another’s lenses as just a different way to experience, we might begin to stop judging others and ourselves.
If you’re curious about the reading, you can listen below.
If this resonate you can access it for two free weeks and then $10 a month. You also access them in the alignment membership, which gives you access to all of my courses and these weekly readings.
Lastly, this piece is getting long so I will be writing another piece to dive deeper into following nudges that provides more practical applications to help you learn how to trust your intuition.
So until next time friends, stay curious!
